The Motown Misfits are a co-ed junior roller derby team located in Turlock, California. Skaters of any ability aged 5-17 from Ceres, Modesto, Turlock, Ripon, Denair and the surrounding Central Valley area (and beyond!) are welcome to join. Team members are trained in roller derby techniques and strategies. Minimum skills must be met to bout. Our littles (ages 10 and under) play on what we call “positional” lines, which means they do not hit. For the rest of our kids, roller derby is a full-contact sport.
Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm in Turlock at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds BLDG E-1. Home bouts are usually hosted at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in Turlock. We average an away bout every other month during bouting season, which runs approximately from February through August. Travel averages 2 hours drive time each way.
The Motown Misfits do more than just practice and bout! We frequently attend scrimmages and roller derby workshops around the area. We participate in community events like Relay For Life and area holiday parades. Some of our kids even get borrowed by other local teams to fill their rosters for bouts. There is always something fun to do and new friends to meet in the roller derby world! Contact us for more information about the Motown Misfits.
